They turned up the lights after one song.

We usually sing four amazing rock-band-like songs which is one of the many reasons I love our church.

Then I remembered seeing the reserved seats walking in, “Reserved for families of children dedication”.

Shit. Oh, shit.

Today is the children’s dedication at church.

This post may be one of my all time favorites. It perfectly captures pain, healing, unexpected swift kicks to the ovaries, and the lifelong losses (and lifelong healing) associated with infertility. I’m in a bit of a vulnerable place myself, so it’s nice to know I’m not alone.

As I read this, I was reminded of the song Human by Christina Perri. The lyrics are (in part):
    But I’m only human
And I bleed when I fall down
    I’m only human
And I crash and I break down
    Words in my head
    Knives in my heart
You build me up and I fall apart
    ‘Cause I’m only human

Those lyrics just seemed to fit. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your perfectly imperfect self with us (again)!
