I finished reading Ever Upward 2 days ago. It is probably my 6th or 7th book on the struggles of infertility but definitely one of the most impactful.

A few things that really spoke to me…

    1) that the shame of infertility is unavoidable but can be given a voice. It’s a painful road to walk and an even more painful one to be “public” about – even if only to your own friends and family – but if we don’t speak openly about this road and this journey, we will forever be silenced in shame.

    2) your groupings of your support system caused me to look harder at my own. I knew it before, but now am facing the fact that I have more “incapables” than I realized or probably should. Thank you for bringing this to light in such clear illustrations.

    3) I appreciated the approach you take to infertility. It is a PROCESS and the journey to become whole after the process is a RECOVERY including relapses and set backs. No one else I have read paints the picture that way and it’s so true.

    4) thank you for writing about your faith but not forcing it on others. As a Christian woman living in New York City (kind of a rare breed!) I could really identify with your acceptance of others’ beliefs even if they don’t match your own. I also appreciated how you didn’t shy away from your “potty mouth” despite what your fellow Christians may think. Lol! I have one myself.

My husband and I have been married for 9 years and have struggled with infertility for 6 of those years. We are at a painful crossroads. Sure that our IVF is coming to an end but not sure of what’s next.

I hope one day we can connect somehow. Your work is highly impactful to me and I’m sure so many others. Thank you for the voice you give to this journey.

    A Fellow Warrior,

    1. Alyssa,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave these incredible words. I am so glad you found my story helpful. I am sending you prayers and love, especially for this time in your journey. Only you and your husband know what is best for you two. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me here or via email or through the Facebook page. Thank you again, and if you feel called an Amazon review would also be super helpful. Thank you again my fellow warrior, know that I see you. J
